Connecting Mimir to Claude and other AI tools (MCP)

Mimir has a built-in MCP server, so you can connect your Mimir workspace to an AI tool that supports the Model Context Protocol, such as Claude. Once connected, you can ask the AI tool to look through your conversations, read and write your notes, and inspect your skills, without leaving that tool.

The server address is:

<https://api.trymimir.com/mcp>

Connecting

Add the address above as an MCP server in your AI tool. The first time you use it you are sent to a Mimir sign-in page to authorise the connection. Sign in with the same account you use for Mimir, approve the request, and the tools become available automatically.

You only need to do this once per tool. If you later change what your account is allowed to do, reconnect so a new authorisation is issued.

What the connection can do

Workspace overview — your workspace name, connected channels, total conversation count and tag labels.

Find conversations — search by date range, channel, tags, CSAT score, outcome, escalation or customer email.

Read a conversation — the full transcript, including agent activity and internal notes.

Read and write notes — browse, read, create, update and delete knowledge base notes.

Inspect skills — list your skills and read their step-by-step definitions.

Why some tools are missing

The tools you see depend on what your role in Mimir is allowed to do. Each group of tools requires a matching permission:

Conversation tools require conversations:read

Note tools require notes:manage

Skill tools require skills:manage

If a tool you expect is not listed, your role is missing the permission for it. Ask an administrator to update your role, then reconnect the MCP server so a fresh authorisation is issued. Reconnecting matters: permissions are read when you authorise, so an existing connection keeps the access it was granted.

👉 A good first prompt once you are connected: "Find every conversation from the last 30 days that wasn't solved, and tell me what topics they have in common." That is often the fastest way to spot missing notes or help centre articles.

Using an API key instead

If you want an automated integration rather than a person signing in, you can authorise with a Mimir API key instead of signing in. Create one under Settings → API keys and send it as a bearer token. The key must carry the conversations:read permission.

For bulk data export outside of MCP, see API keys and the external API.
