Introduction to Notes

Notes are the primary way to give Mimir information. Think of them like notes you would give to a coworker - small pieces of information that helps them do their job.

When to use Notes

The vast majority of information you give to Mimir will be in the form of notes. However, there are two types of information you should not include in notes

  1. Information from an external resource like your website: Instead of manually adding external information to notes we automatically sync them. This makes it super easy to keep this information up-to-date in Mimr – you simply do nothing!

  2. Dynamic information such as specific orders: Dynamic information that may be relevant for your customers like orders should instead be expoed to Mimir via a skill. For instance, it is common to add a order_status skill that let’s Mimir look up the latest information

Different Options When Adding Notes

When adding a note, you first choose an appropriate title and content. In addition, you have four other options when adding a note, each with its own icon:

Let us work through these from left to right

Tags

The leftmost icon represents the tags a specific note has. A note can have zero or more tags, with no upper limit. Tags are only used for you to organize your notes, and have no effect on how Mimir uses a note. They allow you group your notes by topic, such that you can easily find them again later.

Modalities

A modality is how a customer interacts with Mimir, either through chat or mail. Most notes should be active for all modalities, however some notes may only be relevant for a specific modality. For instance, you may want to give Mimir specific instructions about how to respond via email, which is not relevant to chat.

Regions

Regions allow you to limit notes to only apply to specific country sites, like only applying to Norway. Or applying to Norway and Sweden but not Denmark, etc. This is useful if a piece of information is not true everywhere you operate your store.

Date Range

The last option is the date range. By specifying a date range, you limit a note to only apply within that range. For instance, information about your Black Friday deals might not be relevant after November 28th.
